Mecosta County Gears Up for Nonprofit and Community Events on Feb. 2

The office hours for Congressman John Moolenaar are scheduled for 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, February 14, at Big Rapids City Hall, located at 226 N. Michigan Ave. The purpose of these hours is to assist constituents with any issues they may be facing with federal agencies.

Additionally, there is an upcoming event called the Daddy Daughter Dance, which will take place from 7 to 9 p.m. on Friday, February 16, at the Big Rapids Middle School (500 N. Warren Ave.). This dance is open to all ages, and the cost is $10 at the door or $7 if preregistered by February 15. Moreover, the Festival of the Arts will be ongoing throughout February, and the schedule of events will be published on Mondays and Thursdays.

For those interested in sports and fitness, Big Rapids Park and Rec offers several programs such as Co-ed Volleyball every Sunday at the Big Rapids Middle School, Delay the Disease Fitness for Parkinson’s on Thursdays, Groove on Thursdays, Latin Dance Fusion on Mondays, Pickleball on Wednesdays and Fridays, and a Walking Program from Monday to Thursday. Water Aerobics is also available on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays at the Ferris State University Recreation Center.

Additionally, there are ongoing programs and activities in the area, including the Kiwanis Club meetings on the first and third Wednesdays of the month, the Mecosta County Historical Museum’s private tours, the Mecosta County Genealogical Society meetings on the second Saturday of each month, and the Reed City Heritage Museum open from Friday to Tuesday.

Furthermore, the Morley Community Center hosts various activities, such as Cardio Drumming on Sundays, Pickleball on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, Euchre Night on Tuesdays, Community Coffee on Fridays, Garage Sales on Fridays and Saturdays, Community Potluck on the first Thursday of each month, Blood Drive on the second Monday of odd-numbered months, and Feeding America Food Distribution on the third Thursday of even-numbered months.
